Key Restrictions
No PROM and no strength testing at initial evaluation; tip protector splint continuously with pin protected; pin removed 4-6 wks; mallet finger splint from 6 wks (continuous except HEP); PROM DIP begins at 7 wks only if no extensor lag; wean from mallet splint starting 9 wks (reduce 1 hr/day); discontinue splint at night 12 wks; monitor for extensor lag throughout

3-5 days (tip protector splint, A/PROM MP/PIP), 4-6 wks (pin removal), 6 wks (AROM DIP 6x/day, mallet splint), 7 wks (PROM DIP if no lag), 9 wks (wean splint), 12 wks (discontinue night splint)

No PROM or strength testing at initial evaluation; continuously monitor for extensor lag throughout course of therapy
