PIP of involved finger immobilized in full extension without fail; DIP AROM allowed; avoid tight fisting/heavy lifting; limited arc PIP motion begins week 4 only if extension lag <10°; wean during day at 6-8 weeks; FO at night until week 10
Timeline & Phases
Phase 1 (0-10-14 days): postop finger splint PIP in extension; Phase 2 (2-4 wks): static FO PIP full extension full time, DIP AROM; Phase 3 (4-10 wks): limited arc PIP (wk4: 0-30°, wk5: 0-45°, wk6: progressive, wk7: gentle PROM), wean day at 6-8 wks, continue FO at night until week 10

Zone III = central slip; emphasis on active extension over flexion during exercises; extension lag <10° is progression criteria; PIP FO worn at night until week 10; dexterity and grip strengthening from week 7
