- No lifting/pushing/pulling; involved MCP in full extension or relative extension at all times; no full composite fisting of involved finger; no resistance strengthening until 6 weeks; orthosis full time; avoid tight composite fisting with forearm rotation until week 8-10
- Timeline & Phases
- Phase 1 (0-2 wks): volar wrist/hand splint; Phase 2 (2-8 wks): hand-based P1 block or relative motion orthosis (MCP in extension) full time, AROM hook fisting, composite fisting with RMO in place, wrist 4-way/forearm AROM, dexterity; Phase 3 (8-12 wks): wean RMO (until 8-10 weeks), gradual full composite fist after 8-10 weeks, ergonomics education

- Ergonomics education: wider grip tools, grip tape on golf clubs/racquets, pipe insulation on tool handles, frequent movement breaks from prolonged gripping (driving, pickleball, etc.); two orthosis options per surgeon: hand-based P1 block or relative motion orthosis
