Meniscectomy — Knee Arthroscopy Post-Op

- Weight-Bearing
- WBAT with crutches; D/C crutches when gait normal (generally 3-5 days)
- Key Restrictions
- TED hose until swelling resolved; cold therapy with knee elevated and in full extension after exercise; if pain/swelling increases or ROM decreases at any time, reduce activity until resolved; patients with additional surgery progress at different rates
- Timeline & Phases
- 4 phases: Phase I (1-7 days), Phase II (~1-3 wks), Phase III (~3-6 wks), Phase IV (~6-10 wks)
- Notes
- ROM goal 0-90 Phase I, full ROM Phase II; ESTIM for quad activation if needed Phase I; Phase III goal: walk 2 miles at 15 min/mile pace, stair ambulation without pain/giving way; Phase IV: agility/plyometrics, running progression, transition to home/gym program; pool therapy when wound fully closed; criterion-based progression emphasized over time
