Sling x 6 weeks (including sleep); ER limited to 80% of opposite shoulder initially; no open Bankart IR behind back x 6 weeks; no contact sports until 6 months
Timeline & Phases
Phase I (1 wk): pain control, sling; Phase II (1-2 wks): AAROM flex/abd to 90°; Phase III (2-4 wks): AAROM flex to 120°, abd to 110°; Phase IV (4-6 wks): AAROM flex >120°, abd to 120°; Phase V (6-9 wks): D/C sling, full AROM, rotator cuff strengthening; Phase VI (9-12 wks): increased resistance; Phase VII (3-4 months): run 2 miles, 30 push-ups; Phase VIII (4-6 months): return to all activities
